Trip to Spain in 2 weeks: Starting in Barcelona and plan to work my way through Valencia, Malago, Seville, Toledo, and to Madrid. Advice about which hotel in Marriott family?##
firstname.lastname@example.org recently took a trip to Barcelona and stayed at the Renaissance property there. He indicated that it was a very nice hotel. He maybe able to offer more input.
My husband has stayed at the Renaissance every year for many, many years on work related trips, and the kids and I joined him in 2017. It was a very nice hotel...comfortable rooms, nice rooftop bar with gorgeous views of the city(especially at night), a big buffet in the morning for elite members, and in a fantastic location. We walked everywhere! I highly recommend it.
If you haven't seen and would like to see La Alhambra in Granada, you can add a 1 night stay in Granada at Hotel Palacio de Santa Paula on your pass-through to Seville. In Barcelona, if you want to shell out a bunch of points/cash, Hotel Arts (hop on/hop off bus stop across the street) is incredible, or the W Barcelona (10-15 min walk from Hotel Arts).
There are a few options in Madrid, just depends what you want to be near. In Seville, it's not a Marriott, but the Gran Melia Colon is an incredible hotel, but if you want to stay in the Marriott family, you must visit Hotel Alfonso XIII.
If you are flying out of Madrid, the Madrid Marriott Auditorium is a nice quick option near the airport where you can also use a Cat1-5 cert. You also have Hotel Palacio Del Retiro in Madrid.
Posted this in another section - but we just got back from Spain in May.
For Madrid - these were our final selections (Note Autograph Collections are different than AC properties)
The first three are Marriott and the final is SPG. We ended up picking the Westin Palace and was very happy with the choice. This Map shows the locations of the Marriott locations - just note that the Westin (Not located on the map) is very near Hotel Palacio Del Retiro (Which was our second choice)
For Barcelona - we stated at the Arts Hotel - and I would highly recommend it.
Hotel Arts Barcelona
Thank you for all of this info...we may be headed to Spain later this year, so I am looking into some of these places.
We stayed at the AC Gava Mar while in Barcelona. This is a lovely hotel in a quaint seaside town, right on a lovely wide beach. The hotel is terrific, reasonably priced, and has a great pool and super lobby/restaurant/bar area. Most convenient if you have a car - parking is about 21E a day. We stayed 3 nights total and would return.
