Marriott hotels eliminating plastic straws by 2019 - Orlando Sentinel
I bet you someone at Marriott Corporate got a big bonus for this idea. It's a win-win idea. Paper straws cheaper than plastic; and Marriott wins in the public for caring about the environment!!!
We've already experienced the paper straws at a couple of Marriott's, now if I can only recall which!
I think one was last year in Maui at the MVC, not sure of the other one, just that they were the white short paper straws.
Will be more difficult to drink wine
Started as an environmental issue with the animals. Cost is better as well.
Crystal Shores has been using paper straws for awhile now. Worked just fine.
Yea, that taste horrible. I stopped using them.
Some people use their own steel straws
Well, I side-stepped this one as I don’t use straws. My GI doctor advised me against them a long time ago, saying man wasn’t intended to drink through straws. I do use stirrers for cream in my tea each morning, but have noticed wooden replacements in the rooms over the last several months. This change is A OK by me.
We were recently at the The View in Marriott Marquis (Times Square) and they served our drinks with paper straws! So the change is in progress...
It has to suck to drink a frozen margarita out of a paper straw!!!!!! I guess I will just use a spoon......
But a metal straw would be awesome!
It sucked. I ditched the straw and chugged my drink..
