Trying to figure which card to use while staying at SPG and Marriott hotels until 1 August.
Since I am no longer chasing LT status via points, I am happy to just gain points.
What's behind door #3? Not enough info, do AMEX card rules restrictions come into play/Chase rules restrictions (5/24, holding similarly branded cards...)
If you aren't for points for LT status, why not earn a different set of points altogether beyond Aug 1st? Chase Ultimate Rewards, AMEX Membership Rewards, Citi Thank You... If you are just looking to get a new card to use for 3 months, what's the plan for that card afterward?
New Marriott Premier Plus = 6x points = old SPG = 2x (which is tripled) = 6x at Marriott's. So, you need to look at the other perks.
One card has a 100k sign up bonus starting May 3rd, can you get more points on the other side???
As always, appreciate the insight. Unfortunately, I already have both the personal and business flavor of each.
I've moved on to my trusty CSR for all travel/restaurants, and the Freedom Unlimited for everything else. I was using the Chase Marriott for nearly everything, but as stated above, not chasing points any longer, so it is shelved, apart from Marriott and SPG stays.
Hindsight says I should've been using my CSR for the last year plus.
Never a dull moment.
Until 1 August, SPG earns 2 points at Marriott and SPG, and Marriott earns 5. This makes SPG the preferred card for points, right?
I believe you are correct!
