Has anyone come across any info on how the new program is going to treat multi-booking at the same property/time? Under the current programs, Marriott counts that as one stay/nights where as SPG counts as many as 3, any clues?
Under current Marriott T&Cs you can accrue points for up to 3 rooms a night as long as the same rewards number is used for all three and the person with the number pays for all three rooms. I would suspect that will be the same under the new program as they are nearly identical requirements from both SPG and Marriott. Stays are only counted as 1 for all three rooms. Not sure what will be the position on Stays in the program in 2019 but suspect they won't matter since "nights" determine status levels, not stays. Stays will likely only be important when doing promotions for bonus points.
Thanks a lot, that makes sense. At least we get credit for all nights, phew!
But you get credit for only one room, correct?
You get all the points but only one night per night.
David Flueck (head of loyalty) said they chose the Marriott rule over the SPG rule.
Credit for 1, points for all 3, and if you use your Marriott CC you get 5x for all Marriott Spend regardless of # of rooms/stays and 1 night credit towards elite status for every $3K.
Unfortunately there is no Marriott CC where I live
Rats...new Marriott (and I believe SPG) have a bonus program that may help...750 Marriott points per night (250 SPG points) starting with third night. Just check out the main websites or the App for details. Of course you need to read the T&C carefully for all the details about what does/doesn't count. All the best!
