Having read through the e-mail, there is absolutely nothing new in its content. It specifically states that the three programmes will remain apart as now. In fact, having read this e-mail I am certain that this is the details of the merger when it first happened. Old news.
You may want to read it again. Here's the significant quote for you:
"Starting this August, Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and SPG will come together as one programme. For now, programme names will stay the same, but everything else will be consolidated. So why old news?...
Still nothing really new in the Statement. If you refer to the website that just states that the programmes will be amalgamated and shows no difference to the current situation. Everything else comes under the heading "educated guess". We can all guess, educated or uneducated.

I wonder if they’ll give is new account numbers? With 9 digits & 110M members (and growing) that’s ripe for fraud vs SPG uses 11 digits. They could give us new alpha-numeric account numbers.
