Lifted this from FT. Pretty useful.
Complete Map of Marriott Rewards Hotels (2018) - Google My Maps
Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
So that our SPGers don't feel left out Starwood and Marriott Award Map - Mapping your next adventure
I've many times used the Marriott/SPG map so I am pretty sure I'll find ways to use the Marriott map too!
Thanks much for lifting this link and sharing it.
I used the other one. It was really useful and very well put together. However it wasn't up to date. Thanks for this!
I need one with SPG too!
Your wish is our command Starwood and Marriott Award Map - Mapping your next adventure

This is the "other one" I use, buuuuut this isn't up to date.
Oops - sorry, I thought I had checked a couple of properties that moved - but both you and crashrit confirm that it doesn't, so currently it's value is only location - thanks
Post note - I went back, I did check, except I checked Marriott properties (since I knew them) doh! So Marriott's are apparently updated and Starwoods aren't (I still haven't checked).
Proving that I'm only dumb, not senile....yet. I'm so proud
I knew of, but didn't really use the other one, but I WILL use this one. It's great!!!
The SPG and Marriott map is awesome - but i dont think it yet contains the changes from March 5th. One hotel i stay at went from a 2-3 but is still showing as a two. Awesome find though - helps visualize availability for larger scale travels.
Thank you for this!
The Google Map is not a complete map of Marriott Hotels. It is missing quite a few.
I originally made this map to help plan my award travel, and do have a plan to update it with SPG properties too when I have more free time. I also understand there are some missing properties - Posting a list of which properties are missing can help me diagnose why they're not appearing and help me fix the method.
I'll repost my comments from FT to start the discussion here and hopefully complete the map with all Marriott and SPG properties.
I had been using a map from 2016 to plan reward travel from a blog post by Drew Macomber on the travelisfree blog.
But with the 2 years of category changes and some hotels added to the portfolio, the 2016 map was no longer as accurate as it used to be for planning purposes.
When the 2018 category changes were announced, I really wanted to see what the extent of the damage was. Especially around the places I book award nights on a regular basis. Also, Category 5 hotels that are now Category 6.
Finally, there are some properties that apparently don't have a reward category, or are so new / haven't opened yet, so no category exists on the booking site. These are indicated with the Category 9s as small red dots. Any updates on those properties would be appreciated.
There were also some Ritz properties that did not display a Tier. These are also indicated with small red dots and are listed as a "Tier 0" for the purposes of this map. Again, if you know of their Tier/ rewards status, updates would be helpful.
For reference - here's the 2016 map:
I originally didn't know about the Starwoodmap.com map, but now that I've reviewed it, I find it to be insufficient for my purposes - the tiers of the properties are several years outdated, and I don't prefer how it clumps together until you zoom in --the latter is just a personal aesthetic thing. Two case studies to prove the point:
Test Case 1: Fairfield Inn in Tehachapi, CA is listed on starwood map as a Category 1 marriott property, but it's currently a Category 3. 7,500 points vs 15,000 points is an order of magnitude inaccurate. It's hard to plan when the map can't be trusted.
Test Case 2: Starwood map indicates 22 marriott properties in the state of CA at Category 1 or 2. Currently, there are no Category 1s in CA and only 3 total properties at Category 2 statewide. This indicates the map is 2-3 years outdated.
Regardless, I will get started adding SPG properties to this map, and will have to do another major update when the programs merge for good later on.
This is great! thank you! I will poke around on here. It is SO helpful to see all of the properties! HUGE HUGE thank you for this hard work.
