Just stayed two nights at the Phoenix Airport Marriott. Since it was the weekend, the concierge lounge was closed which is a normal thing in my travel experience. So as usual, I was given breakfast vouchers for their downstairs restaurant. After being seated for breakfast, I was told that as a Platinum member with (closed) concierge level access, I was only entitled to a "continental breakfast" and not any of the hot foods, including asking for an omlet from the chef who was there. If I wanted hot food, then it would not be complimentary. Not a huge deal, but different from normal. They stated this was "a Marriott policy" AND that it was Marriott policy that they are no longer to provide any meat for concierge lounge breakfasts during the week. No bacon, sausage, ham, etc. Certainly news to me. So I'm wondering... am I just so late to the party I missed this change? Is it a real thing? Sure seems like a unique cost cutting strategy for Marriott.
