Does anybody know if the new partnership with SPG Amex will offer the annual 15 night credit towards membership status(upon renewal) like the Marriott Visa card did?
I certainly hope so, but unfortunately, hope isn't a strategy.
I hesitate to make a specific prediction regarding the SPG Amex. I just got the card this past fall exactly because I have no idea what the future holds. I was able to pick up 30k bonus points for signing up. I figured that regardless of what the future holds for the SPG Amex, the bonus points were enough to make it worthwhile to me.
I feel like a number of things could happen to the SPG Amex upon the merging of loyalty programs, so here is my brainstorming:
Well, the one thing we do know is that your #2 will not happen (at least not yet), at least the SPG AMEX disappearing part... and your #3 (SPG AMEX probably does not stay as it is) probably will not happen either. Marriott has already announced their "joint" card scheme that should be released this year: http://news.marriott.com/2017/12/marriott-international-signs-new-co-brand-credit-card-agreements-jpmorgan-chase-america…
AMEX will unveil a new "super premium" SPG card and take over the small business line of cards, Chase will launch a new mass consumer card and a new premium personal card.
It appears the new Marriott Rewards point will be some type of MR & SPG combined point structure in the new combined program; my guess would be the MR brand name stays, but some (if not all) of the value of Starpoints is slapped on top of it.
By signing up now they will credit me 25000 spg points which will convert to 75000 marriott points. Just have to spend $1500. on the card within first 3 months. Still would like to see the 15 room nights credits tho.......
I signed up for the SPG card in January and need to spend $3000 and will get 25000 SPG points... I already have the marriott card so I figure this way my bases are covered and I'll take an extra 75000 marriott points
SPG Business card is now offering 35k total points for $7k spend, extra 126k MR points, if you convert them from SPG. The business side of AMEX's site seems to be down now, but this should be the link: American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from Amex OPEN
