Do purchased points count toward lifetime award?
SPG do not track lifetime points. Points transferred from SPG to marriott do not count towards lifetime marriott status, purchased or earned.
First of all, SPG lifetime status is based on NUMBER of stays or nights AND the NUMBER of years in Elite Status. The amount of points are meaningless to earning lifetime status in SPG.
Secondly, Marriott's T&C lists transferring points as a NON-QUALIFYING activity:
Q: What does NOT qualify as activity? Gifting or transferring points Receiving points as a gift or transfer Earning points through social media programs/promotions, such as #MRPoints Registering for a promotion Marriott Vacation Club owners staying during their ownership stay, even if earning Elite credit. So I don't think you can buy your way to MR status with transferring SPG points to Marriott Rewards.
I'm sure that communitymanagers can give more insight to your question.
SPG and Marriott rewards systems are still opperating seperatly. So if you are speaking about an all SPG question you would need to reach out to them directly here SPG Customer Care Center. If your question is more having to do with what wiscfriend has brought up then his answer is correct, "transferring points is not activity that impacts Lifetime Status qualification in either Rewards or SPG. Hope this helps clear up your question.
