Is anyone else seeing the new Marriott.com Page today?
It pops up from time to time. I've seen it switch between the old and new version several times during the same day. Right now I have the old one, but I'm sure that will change again. As long as I can find what I need, it doesn't matter to me which version appears.
Nothing new for me
Try a diffrent browser...
Whats odd is i get the NEW site in Chrome, but the OLD site in Safari...
Many companies use A/B testing or multi variable testing of websites.
They will have one or more sets of different looks and test how the conversion rates change based on the page layout.
I have seen significant increases in conversion rates (purchases) by changing the shape of the buy (or book) button, color and location.
M.Com is likely showing the new site (or sites) to a small subset of users and trying to gauge the effectiveness.
I still get the old one...
I have the new format on safari - the familiar link to the Insiders forum has disappeared - eventualy I discovered it had been replaced by a pretty obscure link in the grey area at the bottom of the page.
It's funny that you say the Insiders link in the gray area is an obscure location, as I've been using that all along, a link that says "community"!
I really had to search for that one once the large green link on the overview page had disappeared.
It's down at the bottom now..
I just go to https://insiders.marriott.com .
Wrong URL - it's https://insiders.marriottrewards.com/
I'm using Mozilla and have not seen any changes.
I use an iPad & iPhone and have seen it switch back and forth several times a day on each device.
I'll try to take screenshots of both versions
Like platpboy4ever I use my iPhone and iPad to visit Marriott.com, but unlike him I've not seen the new look at all.
Maybe I need to start visiting Marriott.com several times a day
I haven't see the new page either. Thank you, Matt. If I do get it, at least I'll know that I haven't been misdirected to an unauthorized site that has hacked Marriott information. I think that Marriott should post something about this on Insiders so at least those of us who participate here would be aware that the look may change from one visit to another.
They had a big yellow bar at the top saying something like "Welcome to the new Marriott Experience.."
Thank you, Matt, for the additional information. That helps.
This has been going on for several weeks matthank
matthank The 'new' website comes and goes. Just signed on a few minutes ago and it was the old one again. Not sure what the point of jumping back and forth is.
The problem is, not all the site changes, so you can be jumping from old pages to new pages. You ideate, architect, design, develop, test - then when all the kinks are worked out, you deploy to production. You don't unwittingly use your customers during UAT, then jump back and forth from old to new.
Have only seen the new site once, this past Wed/Thurs. Didn't like it only because I was looking for lifetime points totals, trying to sign up for the MegaBonus, and to check if points were appropriately awarded, and couldn't easily find it (the link wasn't working at first). MegaBonus link on the new site wouldn't work, but on the old site it worked 1st try (usually I have to call in regardless, the link usually never works when I first try it, which is usually the 1st day).
Something is up with the new site. All of my stored information is gone and the site will allow me to re-enter my information. Its says that I have changed my email address in which I have not. I hope this is not a data hack.
Hi emry88 ,
We have sent you a direct message to lend a helping hand!
Hi again, emry88,
Apologies for the frustration. At this time, we do not have an ETA of when the website will be fully restored, but our IT team and web developers are fully aware of the issue and doing their best to correct it immediately.
The new version does not allow searching for reservations by flexible dates. Am I doing something wrong?
It seems to work now?
New development for me - dynamic testing is obviously taking place. Previously I have only seen the new site on Safari. I logged onto Chrome today and couldn't access the site at all so I tried Firefox and the new site loaded.
Dystopian might be a better description professor. I've just spent 20 minutes trying to sign in (to any Marriott.com).
As we like to say nowadays,
I dont see the badges on the new marriott.com. Anybody else with me?
I believe that they are no longer running Badges on their website. Can you clarify communitymanagers?
You are correct. The badges functionality has been removed on the new Marriott.com site. Any members seeing the old site will continue to see the link and reference to the badges.
Hope this helps clear up the question.
So, what is the future for badges? Please advise.
Oooh!! I logged in this morning and for the first time, I saw the new Marriott website! So pretty! I love how my name and status are presented now - all fancy. I hope all the Marriotts start using these fonts and graphics on the televisions in our rooms when we check in now. It's like a little party on the page every time I log in. I just need confetti cannons on either side of my monitor to make the experience complete.
Well of course being on my rusty, trusty Commodore Amiga I'm often the last to get the 'whiz bang' testings of Marriott (thank goodness). But today I went on, in spite of warnings that weekends are especially nasty, and now see what everyone is chatting about. Yeah, pretty graphics but function? whew.
Even allowing for the drawbacks of 'newness', there's many things that bug me; one is the lost of being able to bunch properties along one another rather than a long list - others, have been mentioned above.
Today I tried to book an Awards stay; I was denied three times stating that none are available (although it showed Points bookings - this may be a slight change - the old system would not post a property if it wasn't available for points that night). Knowing enough to not trust Marriott's tech, I called Plat line and asked if points stays were available for that property, "oh yes, it pops right up".
We Insiders, are not the only ones who have experienced frustrations - FlyerTalk has the blues as well
Is a new Marriott website on the way? ( 1 2 3 4)
Here's the latest post today over there;
"Marriott: your new web site is a sucks. Tried navigating around it today which only led to plenty of frustration. Whoever came up with this design should be fired, or at least demoted to the snail mail room. Things that used to take 1 or 2 mouse clicks now takes 3 or 4. Is marketing measuring their success by number of mouse clicks generated? If so, then they've succeeded and pissed off their most frequent guests in the process".
Seriously, I sometimes wonder if Marriott intentionally wants it to be difficult to shop for value and just hopes travelers will grab the first property that comes within their range, not wanting to invest a disproportionate amount of effort for savings that may or may not be there.
The Marriott tech capability reminds me somewhat of Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther; a bumblin', stumblin' knucklehead but somehow everything seems to come out alright (for them).
I have a couple of problems with the new site- when I am working on my expense report, I don't have the option of downloading receipts. For about half of them, I can view the bill and print from my browser. For the other half, I can't even see the bill and have to call the hotel to have them email me a receipt or dig find my paper one and scan it (I don't usually hang onto them, because I always could download a pdf before). Also, when listing your activity, the list cuts off 5, which is really annoying to have to scroll through multiple pages just to fill out a report (I'm on 100 for the year). Marriott.com, please restore the old functionality.
Now that I have reached my Platinum status for the year, perhaps I should work on building up status somewhere else...
I saw it this morning and it was true love on first sight. Good job, MarriottRewards
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....
Today, I input a city and dates and clicked "Find." The result - Marriott.com put me right back to the search page. No list of hotels, no rates, just a loop back to where I started. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point today, but these "innovations" are destroying the ability to book hotels online (even if it's only a temporary problem).
Could this be Marriott IT's to do list?
I will admit, not everything about the new website is awful. Most of the cosmetic changes don't bother me. When it gets to the point where I can't search for hotels, now we have a serious problem.
Looks like the hotel search function is fixed now (for how long is anybody's guess). I knew it wouldn't be down long. Even so, it's disturbing that it wasn't working for even a short time.
It would be nice if you could put all the discounts for which you are eligible - as example AAA, Senior, Corporate - and then have the system show you the rates for each. Right now, you have to keep entering one at a time to see the rates. In my case, that is at least three qualifying codes and one is not always the best rate, so I search all three.
The new site keeps locking me out and going to a default page. It look me 15 tries to just book a room. In todays technology, why would they launch a site that doesn't work. So frustration.
Back to the old version again today....geez Marriott.
I tried for about twenty minutes to book a simple night's stay in a Courtyard and kept getting error messages. Plus, when the search choices are displayed, the map is tiny and the first hotel is huge on the left (used to be on the right in a small box, which I liked). I had to book my hotel on a third-party site, since the Marriott.com site was useless.
Not a fan of the new website. Please put it back the way it was, Marriott.com.
NOT loving the new site AT ALL
Not only do I have to input my password in more than once per visit but my stays are not being credited properly. I have tried unsuccessfully to contact Customer Support and just as I finally get to speak to a human their system cus the phone call off
I am beyond frustrated with Marriott these days
So sorry for the frustration, beachbabesuze. If you have any outstanding missing stays, please submit a Support Request for each separate stay so that we may assist with these. We have shared your feedback on the new site with our team for review.
What happend with the ability to download receipts via an I Phone or an Android phone? I was able to complete expense reports while waiting for a flight etcetera but all I can do now is view them and can't even use a sharing app (Pdf printer etc) all that does is share the link to the receipt view. This is terribly inconvenient as now I will have to spend additional time to pull out the computer to get the receipts.
It all depends on which way the wind is blowing, whether the sun is in the east, the west, or on the other side of the world, whether I lift my left leg or my right leg, which determines which site I manage to pull up. As bejacob says, as long as I can find what I need, the version itself doesn't matter to me.
Seeing this More and More. And every time I see it I’m busted to Platinum. Really feelin’ the love, Marriott
I read all these posts and of course can understand the frustration so many people feel with these new and old and new and old iterations of the site page(s)...especially since I have had so much aggravation myself trying to book nights with the site. The only question I have...and, quite frankly, it's a SERIOUS one (although I have to chuckle at the parent company stupidity here), is that is there ANY company that would allow their IT folks to frustrate, anger, aggravate, confuse and dump on their loyalty base (meaning CUSTOMERS) as this company does without making changes to correct it for as long as Marriott has allowed this to persist? I didn't think so........
I have not been happy with Marriott's webpage for a long time. Hope this has improved it some. Not seen it.
It literally keeps changing hour by hour, back & forth, but when it's the newer version, the display is incomplete with "sorry our server is down" on some parts of the page. Ughhh
Same. Its funny, if i go to Marriott.com, it shows the old page and old login, But if i click SignIN on Insiders, it goes to marriott.com and shows the new page and new login, then once i login, goes back to old Marriott.com, then i have to go back to insiders.marriott.com and click sign in, then it refreshes back in..
And i wish we could set the login timeout to something greater then 5 minutes.
platpboy4ever matthank , I am beginning to think it really is like trying to adjust the rabbit ears 50+ years ago.....positioning of arms and legs makes a difference in how the website responds.....ROFL!
If you have issues with the old/new/old again page switching and want to stay on the old page for consistency, log in here: https://www.marriott.com/default.mi?version=legacy
I still get the old one occasionally. I am NOT a fan of the new one. Many issues but one that gets me is the inability to view all of my future reservations and not being able to view my bills. I have complained a few times already but still...
Anytime I see that the newer sign-in shows up, I use my bookmark link to the old site!
For the life of me, I cannot understand why it continues to bounce back and forth between old and new. One of the strangest launches of a new user experience I have seen.
And it may be completely different once they launch the combined website with all 30 brands!
Late next year, the firm additionally plans to introduce a single technology platform for Marriott Rewards to synch related components of each programme, while minimising costs.
The new technology is expected to provide a single loyalty programme for all the existing Rewards and SPG loyalty programme members."
