Since all signs are pointing towards 2018 as being the year of the merge, as well as the “Year of Explanation of Upcoming Benefits” (with changes to become effective in Jan 2019), I thought as a Marriott lifetime platinum premier member, it would be sensible to experience maximum Starwoodiness this upcoming year, before everything becomes… Show more
Ok, so my final planned stay of the year was at The Gwen, Luxury Collection in Chicago, to celebrate my 27th anniversary with my honey. We decided to leave Moxy early & head over to the Gwen. Valet parking at The Gwen is required, for $75/night. Marcos, the valet, asked for my phone number in order to send a digital valet ticket. Anytime…
I have a weekend stay coming up in January at Hotel Downtown Portland Oregon | The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Portland , I see mixed reviews on other sites, wondering if anyone has experience at this hotel. I am also confused on their current Benifits, sounds like they no longer allow PPE in the lounge, you have to book a room that… Show more
Having purchased a timeshare from SPG, we were offered the ability to purchase rewards points at a discount rate. It's still a significant cost at $2,275 for 330,000. I thought it was good deal for purchasing future airline tickets, but now I don't think so. When I went to Europe in 2016 and using SPG points (pre-merger) we transferred points… Show more
I wouldn't purchase points. Based on your purchase, you would need to get an equivalent value of over $0.02/AAdvantage mile to make the transfer worthwhile (3 Marriott points/AAdvantage mile plus bonus when purchasing > 20K). Although this can be done with already overpriced long-haul business and first class awards, these are becoming much…

As of today December 19, 2018 I have not received any of the points I won playing the 29Ways contest with Marriott. This post serves as a record of my winnings and proof of such. As of this writing, I am still looking through my e-mails as I recall winning 3,000 points twice not just once. I know I didn’t receive an e-mail every time I won either,… Show more
Well....you may have sufficed to do different from me, but again, I can handle my affairs on my own accord, thank you very much. Again....this is not a complaint. I suggest if you don’t like my method of attaining the points I won via the 29Ways contest, to just ignore my post(s). Also.....you’d be surprised what complaining on here can…
While he's reflecting back on a busy year full of challenges, why no mention of the data breach with a little update? No real dates of the new brand-name release? No word on what is coming next (because Marriott and Starwood are far from being 100% merged)? Lots of words without saying much. It boils down to: "Be patient, we're still working on…
Now that the points have posted... I got 1,200 from SPG and 2,200 from Marriott for 3,400 points (not merged yet). Not a great haul, but my 4 and 5 year old enjoyed playing the game each night so bonus from that point of view!
I know Marriott clarified that Category 8 starts in March 2019. I have not found clarification that peak season dates start then, or January 1. The language is usually vague "Starting in 2019". Any official clarification? I'd like to book a ski trip for early 2020.
With 2018 winding down, it seems like a good time to look back. No, not at all the issues we've faced with Marriott. Instead, I'm curious what Insiders accomplished related to Marriott this year. 1. Achieving Ambassador status. So happy I don't have to call the Platinum line anymore and listen to a 90 second infomercial before being able to speak with a human. 2. Confirmed LPP status. 3. 41 consecutive nights at Aloft Bangkok on great LNF rate. (28 original LNF then extended 13 at decent pre-paid rate)
Since IAHFLYR, trippin', pluto77, and a few others have been having sporadic aviation discussions in threads that have nothing to do with aviation, I thought I'd at least steer those discussions into it's own discussion thread. communitymanager, perhaps we can start an aviation enthusiast group? In the mean time, this will be our home for all… Show more
I don't even get to 10k miles on a single airline. Normally, when I go to Europe, I can easily punch over 6k miles on the the counter with Skyteam, but usually it stays there. Next year, we are looking at some more trips, including US destinations (e.g. Disney World Orlando). Silver status will make it a lot more attractive to go Delta instead of…

Candlewood Suites is very similar to TPS except most Candlewoods do not have a pool (most older TPS have been getting rid of their pools slowly over the years also) and they offer no free breakfast. Candlewoods have studios and 1 Bedrooms. I’ve yet to see one with a 2 Bdrm. Candlewood Suites usually cost less than TPS. However, like TPS you only…
