I just had the following chat with MR which confirmed:   You have the rest of 2018 to meet the original Lifetime Platinum requirements to be grandfathered into the Lifetime Platinum Premier   Ashley B (4/18/2018, 2:15:25 PM): You have been connected to Ashley B. How may I help you? Me (4/18/2018, 2:15:41 PM): I had a question on lifetime status… (Show more)

Having said that, I do feel for the SPGers, who as predicted, give up a good amount of ground in several aspects, but of course, that's because they had more to begin with - for example SPG AmEx going from 3 pts. per dollar… (Show more)

It’s been my opinion, for a long time, that Marriott needs to step their game up where Platinum Elite recognition is concerned. I have a unique perspective in that, when I was in college, I worked as a front desk clerk at a Courtyard by Marriott property, from 2005-2008. Back then, the Platinum recognition was a bag of pretzels and a bottle of… (Show more)

I know everyone is having loads of fun digging into the details of the upcoming changes to the MR and SPG loyalty program.   As a public service (to prevent mental overload), this post has nothing whatsoever to do with the combined program. For those traveling to DC next weekend who are wondering what to pack, here's the current weather… (Show more)

I am booking Two nights at a category 4 hotel. This will cost me 40,000 points. The rate on this stay would be 418.00 with tax included. Is this a good use of my points? This one points guy type website states it is NOT a good use of my Marriott points! See below  ___________________________________________________ Instant Redemption — Use… (Show more)

I would like to start a thread on strategies to achieve lifetime status.  Many of us are likely close to achieving lifetime status under the current requirements.    Personally, I am around 285,000 points away from Lifetime Gold.  My understanding of the changes is that, if I achieve this by year-end, I will be converted to Lifetime Platinum… (Show more)
