A few photos from our recent trip to Marrakech.

We had a good time.

We stayed in the Medina (old town) in a Riad.

On the first day we organised a private day trip to the Ourika Valley.

There are dozens of companies that provide these popular trips.

It was a great experience, we visited a traditional Berber house, rode a camel and explored some small villages.

Whilst in Marrakech we mainly explored the Medina area.

Ensure that you have a good map as you cannot rely on street signs nor the help of the locals.

The locals will tell you, that you are going the wrong way and the museum you are going to is closed.

Luckily I had google maps so we did not have to listen to this nonsense.

The sites are small therefore it easy to see several of the main attractions in one day.

We visited the Ben Yousseff Madrasa Médersa Ben-Youssef

The Museum of Marrakech fondation Omar Benjelloun - Musée de Marrakech

you can buy a combined ticket to visit both of these attractions.

Musee Boucharouite was very nice.

Maison de la Photographie was okay, it did have a nice roof top cafe though.

Jemaael Fna, the main square is a crazy place.

As soon as you enter there are people all over you wanting to sell you all sorts of stuff.

We avoided the place after going through there twice as it was just too much hassle.

Maison Tiskiwin is another small museum with some Berber information.

Bahia Palace had some beautiful ceilings and courtyards.

The only significant site we saw outside the Medina was the Jardin Majorelle Majorelle Garden

i would advise first time visitors to stay in the Medina area.

You are where all the main sites are and no taxis are required.

You can change money at the airport, but the rates were slightly better in the Medina area.

The souks are very busy places with many people, motorbikes and bicycles.

It doesn't make it that relaxing visiting the shops round the small busy streets.

I'm glad we visited Marrakech as overall it was a good experience.
