Even if you're not a "Southerner" , which I am, Savannah is a delightful place to visit! For those who prefer Marriott, there is a Marriott Riverfront Hotel on east side of town at end of Bay Street, Marriott Bohemian Hotel on opposite end of Bay, Residence Inn and Courtyard just as you exit I-16 (west side of town), and the Mansion (Marriott Autograph) on Forsyth Park, not walking distance to the Old Town district, but the hotel offers free shuttle service to/from the Bohemian, from where you can access the river walk and downtown attractions. Savannah is accented with tree-moss-laden parks (squares), each with their own distinction and history, along with historical landmarks, some of which you can see in photos I've posted. There are numerous places to eat, a couple of which I've posted photos, but also try Soho South on W. Liberty (lunch), and the Public Kitchen & Bar (near Soho), and for a special dinner, try to get reservations at the Pink House (11 dining rooms and a cozy bar downstairs).
