Review of the Courtyard Marriott Palm Springs

It is disappointing that our elite status is essentially a waste at Courtyard properties.  Sure, we get free upgraded WiFi and upgrades, if available (although, they are not automatic, as indicated-we have to ask for them) but no free breakfast, no free coffee in the lobby, no free parking (actually, this is new; the last time I stayed here parking WAS free to everyone now it is $5 a day?).

Regarding this property specifically, although the lobby and rooms have been upgraded and refreshed in accordance with every other Courtyard, the rest of this hotel is overdue for a facelift.  The carpeting in the hallways looks like it is original.  The main complaint I have about this location is that the air conditioning units in the hallways and the rooms are exceptionally loud.  We found it hard to sleep with the noise emerging from the A/C unit in the bedroom of our suite.  In Palm Springs, you have to keep your A/C running just to keep the temperature below 80.  If you're lucky, it reaches your desired temperature and shuts off for a minute or two - hopefully, you can fall asleep before it kicks back on again.  The rooms have no central air coming from the vents but individual units in both the outer lounge area and the bedroom.

Otherwise, the furniture and beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, the staff here is friendly and available, and the hotel is conveniently located to everything in Downtown Palm Springs.
